MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Police say an inmate in an Indiana jail tried to hire a hit man to kill another man and his family while he was still behind bars.
Forty-year-old Brian Lee Blevins Sr. was being held Saturday at the Delaware County Jail in Muncie on a preliminary charge of conspiracy to commit murder. Blevins already was jailed on burglary charges.
A sheriff's investigator told The Star Press Blevins arranged for another inmate to be bailed out of jail to kill a man who Blevins said had threatened a member of Blevins' family. The other inmate was a confidential police informant.
A police report says Blevins acknowledged making the agreement when he was questioned Thursday.

A winter storm warning is in effect for most of Central Indiana.
Global civil rights icon Nelson Mandela, whose legacy is ending South African apartheid, has died.
The Indiana Department of Transportation and Indiana State Police say they're ready for the wintry weather conditions. Thursday's transition from mild temperatures and rain to freezing temperatures and snow made efforts more difficult.
