HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - After a three month investigation, an Indianapolis woman has been arrested for stealing more than $190,000 from her employer.
According to police, Katherine Schiewer, 30, was arrested on a Hendricks County warrant and has been preliminarily charged with two counts of theft.
The investigation began after TABS Distribution, Inc., which operates four Sun Spots tanning salons, noticed deposits were made to the bank by Schiewer, the office manager, and did not match the deposits she had received from the four salons.
An internal audit revealed Schiewer allegedly deposited $198,955.80 into her personal accounts from deposits from the tanning salons. The investigation revealed she used the money for vacations, eye surgery, and shopping trips.
Police say the thefts began in 2008 when Schiewer was promoted to management and became responsible for the four salons.
She was arrested and preliminarily charged with two counts of theft.
