AVILLA, Ind. (AP) — An early-morning head-on collision between a moped and a car has killed one person and injured another.
The Noble County Sheriff's Department says 40-year-old Brian Slone of Garrett was riding his moped southbound in the northbound lane of Indiana 3 at the time of the collision Sunday.
Twenty-eight-year-old Ashley Dockery of Garrett, who was traveling northbound in the same lane said she saw the moped coming at her but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Slone was pronounced dead at the scene. Dockery was taken to Fort Wayne Parkview Hospital complaining of chest pain.
The collision occurred near the town of Avilla, about 20 miles northwest of Fort Wayne.
