HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A motorcycle crash on Friday afternoon left a man dead and his wife critically injured, according to Huntington County police.
Huntington County Coroner Philip Zahm told NewsChannel 15 that the crash happened on CR 300 W., south of State Road 124, in Huntington County Friday afternoon.
Zahm said a 17-year-old girl was pulling out of the driveway of her home on CR 300 W. when a motorcycle crashed into the side of her SUV. She did not see the motorcycle coming because her driveway is on a hill and the streets are lined with trees that obstructed her view, according to Zahm.
Both the motorcycle driver and the passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
The driver, Richard Janny, 60, of Muncie, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Zahm.
Janny's wife was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center via Samaritan Helicopter. As of Saturday morning, she is listed in critical condition. Zahm said her name has not been released yet.
Zahm said the driver of the SUV was not injured.
No charges have been filed yet, but the investigation is ongoing. Zahm told NewsChannel 15 that crews are working to reconstruct the scene of the crash for further investigation.
Both Janny and his wife were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, according to Zahm.
