VINCENNES, Ind. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a 7-year-old Louisville, Ky., boy two days after he was pulled from the Wabash River at Vincennes.
Indiana Conservation Officers say Luke Zimmerman died Monday at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.
They say the boy was wading with his brother at a public boat ramp at Vincennes' Kimmel Park on Saturday night when Luke disappeared under the surface of the water. His father, 46-year-old Thomas Zimmerman of Vincennes, jumped in the river and after searching for several minutes located the boy and pulled him out as emergency crews arrived on the scene.
The boy was airlifted to an Evansville hospital Saturday night, then transferred to the Louisville hospital on Sunday.
An autopsy is pending.
Vincennes is about 100 miles northwest of Louisville.
