CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Carmel are searching for a man who they say exposed himself to a woman inside a hotel hallway Tuesday.
Police are looking for a balding black man between 30 and 40 years old and about 6'2" tall.
Around 6 p.m., the woman, who was checking in the Comfort In to attend a work conference in Indianapolis this week, said as she was trying to get into her room, the man exposed himself and approached her. She said she screamed and ran away. She then called 911. That hotel is on US 31 near Interstate 465.
Police said the man also ran from the scene. They don’t believe he was a hotel guest.
Carmel Police Lt. Joe Bickel said the surveillance camera that would've captured the incident had been covered up.
“We believe the suspect may have covered the camera with the towel so we took that as evidence,” said Bickel, who added it appears to have been an isolated incident.
"We have not had any other cases. This is an isolated incident but we do want to make people aware that if they are checking into hotels, be aware of your surroundings, if they see something suspicious, notify the hotel or call the police dept so we can check it out," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
