INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Governor Mitch Daniels slipped in a lighthearted joke about theColts special teams while making good on his bet Tuesday toLouisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
Daniels released a picture of himself next to a New OrleansSaints flag outside his office in the state capitol. The picturewas part of a bet Governor Daniels had with Governor Jindalregarding the outcome of the Super Bowl.
The picture accompanied a letter to Jindal in which Danielsjoked he’ll be “demonstrating how to cover an onsidekick” near where the Saints flag is posted.
The remark was apparently in reference to the botched onsidekick recovery effort by Colts special teamer Hank Baskett to startthe second half of the Super Bowl.
Daniels’ entire letter read,
“As in your state, here in Indiana, a deal is a deal.So I put the Saints flag you sent on display just outside myoffice, in the atrium of our beautiful state capitol, wherevisitors, employees and legislators will all get a good look atit.
For the next week, per our agreement, we'll keep it on displayin the atrium, where, incidentally, each day I'll be demonstratinghow to cover an onside kick.
Congratulations to the Saints on a well-played Super Bowl. Maybewe'll see you again in Dallas next year.”
