INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels ordered the immediate closure of the Interstate 64 Sherman-Minton Bridge between Indiana and Kentucky near Louisville, Ky.
Transportation officials in both states learned Friday that a crack was discovered in a critical part of the bridge's structure. Engineers recommended the bridge, which connects New Albany, Ind to Louisville, be closed.
The bridge will be closed indefinitely. Structural Engineers will continue examining the bridge in the meantime.
Traffic is being detoured over I-265 and I-65.
