INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson is chairing the 2013 Walk to End Lupus Now.
The Indiana Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America announced Monday that Lawson was picked for her ability to draw more public support for the walk.
Lawson said she has seen family members suffer from the disease and is personally dedicated to raising awareness about the Lupus Foundation's work.
The walk will take place Oct. 12 at Fort Harrison State Park.

Federal investigators are looking into multiple cases where counterfeiters have floated fake $100 bills. According to police reports, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested three people for printing off the fake bills.
Update: According to the Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette area schools have been checked and the threat has been deemed not credible and lockdown lifted.
