GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - Volunteers in Greensburg took time this week to make puppy-shaped pillows.
Our partners at the Greensburg Daily News report the ladies of the Decatur County Homemakers Association stitch together pillows every year to donate to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.
Volunteers say the hospital goes through more than 1,200 puppy pillows a month.
The pillows are made with colorful, patterned fabric on one side and plain white fabric on the other. After the pillows are donated, Cheer Guild staff will draw or sew faces on the white side before passing them out to children.
Volunteers say the pillows can make a child's experience in the hospital less traumatic.
UPDATE 10:45 P.M.: Many Indiana State Police dispatches were reporting accidents on major roads due to slick weather conditions Sunday night.
With some of the coldest nights of the season on the way, shelters are preparing for a rush of people trying to stay warm.
Christmas is just over two weeks away, but it came early for some very special kids in Hancock County.
