INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The state Department of Health has announced new vaccination guidelines for school-age children starting next school year.
All students from kindergarten through 12th grade must have two doses of varicella vaccine or documented history of having chicken pox. Students in K through fifth grade must have that documentation provided by a doctor.
In addition, there are two new recommendations:
- All kindergartners are recommended to have two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine.
- A booster dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine is recommended for 11th- and 12-graders.
To check vaccine records for you or your child, check the state's MyVaxIndiana website . PINs can be obtained through healthcare providers. The recommended vaccination schedule and vaccines required for school entry is available at the same website.
