Indianapolis Power & Light Co. reported more than 600 customers without power at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. Within an hour, though, electricity had been restored to most customers.
A 24-Hour News 8 photographer at the scene reported a power line was down at 16th Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Witnesses in the area reported seeing sparks before the lights went out.
IPL officials said Thursday morning a lightning strike to a primary power line downtown around 10:30 p.m. triggered the power outage.
Because the Big Brother finale was broadcast live directly from CBS, it was not available to rebroadcast Wednesday night at WISH. Arrangements were being made to re-air it.
"We are sorry that Wednesday night's power outage caused WISH-TV & MyINDY-TV to go off the air. We know your television programming is important to you," said Jeff White, president and general manager of WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV. "We understand you would like to see Big Brother, and we will have more details on the possible re-airing of this program Thursday. We will make our notification on our website, Facebook and of course during our newscast."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rachel Reilly doesn't have a reason to pout.
After being locked away from the outside world for 75 days, the weepy "Big Brother" veteran emerged Wednesday as the winner of CBS' voyeuristic reality TV competition. The show's six-person jury selected the 26-year-old cocktail waitress from Los Angeles to win the $500,000 grand prize over 23-year-old newbie contestant Porsche Briggs from Miami.
At the beginning of the 13th season, Reilly entered the "Big Brother" house with fiance Brendon Villegas, a 31-year-old graduate student. The pair met last summer as competitors on the show's 12th edition. The ups and downs of their relationship and the game often resulted in emotional outbursts from Reilly.
Reilly dominated the season by winning competitions with her veteran alliance and openly targeting the batch of fresh players.
