INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - School Superintendent Glenda Ritz says she'll be spending the summer promoting literacy around the state.
Ritz told Indiana Democrats gathered for their annual fundraiser Friday that the Department of Education is pairing up with other statewide groups including the United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs and other nonprofits and libraries to push reading literacy.
The state agency is urging families to spend at least 20 minutes a day reading as part of the "Hoosier Family of Readers" program.
