SALEM, Ind. (AP) — A 23-year-old southeastern Indiana woman has been charged with neglect of a dependent in the death of her -8-month-old son.
State police say Casey Crain of Salem, about 40 miles northwest of Louisville, Ky., was arrested Friday. She was being held in the Washington County Jail. Court records did not indicate whether she has hired an attorney.
Police say her son, Leelan Crain, died Sunday. Preliminary autopsy results indicate the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head. Crain's boyfriend, 24-year-old Jamie J. Lykins of Salem, was charged earlier with battery causing death and neglect of a dependent. Innocent pleas were entered on his behalf when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
Police say Crain told them she found her son unresponsive while taking a nap.
