FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Human skeletal remains were found in Franklin County on Sunday as people were walking along Big Cedar Creek, Indiana State Police officials said.
The discovery was near Cedar Grove.
As of Monday morning, ISP officials said it wasn't clear if the remains were that of a male or female, child or adult, or how long they were there. Investigators scoured the area for other clues.
The remains will undergo DNA and other forensic tests at the Hamilton County, Ohio coroner's office.
ISP officials don't anticipate the identification of the remains will be made for several weeks.
Indiana State Police officials are reminding the public that abandoned vehicles left on interstates will be towed before this week's winter weather arrives.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Central Indiana through Friday night. Southern counties will be under a winter storm warning beginning Thursday night through Friday night.
