TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Dozens of relatives and friends gathered for a vigil in honor of a western Indiana native whose body was found in a retention pond after being missing for two years.
Some 70 people lit candles Monday night outside Terre Haute's City Hall during the ceremony for Morgan Johnson. Police found Johnson's body after pulling his car Friday from a pond in the Indianapolis suburb of Plainfield, where he had been living when the 27-year-old was last seen in May 2011.
The vigil began with an opening prayer and continued with friends of Johnson reminiscing.
Vigil organizer Gloria Jones tells the Tribune-Star she was grateful so many people continued to care about Johnson.
Rick Petty recalled Johnson as always having a smile when he coached Johnson's middle-school basketball team.
