INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Local drivers will start to encounter road crews this weekend.
INDOT crews will restrict lanes on southbound I-69 between 116th Street and I-465 overnight Saturday. Crews will begin work on the shoulder starting at 10 a.m.
The project is part of INDOT's effort to improve traffic flow in the area.
Also Saturday night, INDOT crews will be shifting southbound traffic on US 31 to northbound lanes.
The project to build new intersections between 151st and 169th Streets is expected to last until late summer.
"With this traffic change we will be implementing a 40 mile per hour work zone speed limit for the safety of the workers and motorists. We will have narrowed travel lanes to 11 feet wide. We will also have some median crossovers that will enable that shift into the northbound lanes, so folks will need to start watching out for those shifts, narrowed lanes and reduced speed limits," said Nathan Riggs of INDOT.
