PIERCETON, Ind. (WANE) - Police arrested a man Sunday at Jellystone Campground in Pierceton after they say he beat a woman over an argument about a clothes dryer unit.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Michael Patrick Zimny, 54, of Glenwood, Illinois, began arguing with a woman over the use of a clothes dryer unit in the laundry area at the campground.
Police said Zimny then beat the 24-year-old Columbia City woman. She was injured in the front temple area of her skull and eventually went unconscious as she was going back to her campsite.
Officers and EMS crews responded to the campsite, located at 1916 N 850 E in Pierceton, at around 11 a.m. after receiving the call that a woman was severely injured.
The victim was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition, according to officials.
Police arrested Zimny on a preliminary charge of felony aggravated battery with substantial risk of death.
Zimny is currently being held without bond on a prosecutorial hold by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
