Historic Fishers house to find new home in roundabout

FISHERS, Ind. (AP) — A historic central Indiana house will serve as the centerpiece of a new roundabout in a busy retail area.

The city of Fishers plans to buy the Morris-Flanagan-Kincaid House from Nickel Plate Arts this summer and move it to a new location on USA Parkway, near IKEA, Portillo’s restaurant and The Yard district.

The city says the relocation will give the 157-year-old brick home renewed visibility and recognition of its historic value to the city.

The home, built by the Peter Flanagan family in 1861, has been located since 2014 on two acres of land along Interstate 69 that was donated by student loan giant Navient. Previous owners include Gen. Thomas Armstrong Morris, who helped create the state’s railroad system, canal system, and state capital.
