IU football player Simmie Cobbs Jr. arrested in Hamilton County

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) -- An IU football player has been released from the Hamilton County Jail.

Wide receiver Simmie Cobbs Jr. was arrested on Saturday at the Klipsch Music Center.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says Klipsch security confronted Cobbs for not complying with clearing the aisle during a Jason Aldean concert.

He was taken to the security office, where he allegedly refused to give his name or take a breath test for alcohol.

According to jail records, Simmie Cobbs Jr. faces preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and refusal to identify.

A representative at Hamilton County Jail confirmed Cobbs Jr. was released around 4 p.m. Sunday.

IU's Department of  Athletics has issued the following statement regarding the arrest:

Indiana University Athletics and the IU football program are aware of the arrest of redshirt junior Simmie Cobbs Jr. We will continue to gather facts, monitor the legal process and take action as the evolving situation warrants."
