Students share solutions on how to address crime

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – School was not in session on Monday at Warren Central High School, but that didn’t stop students from entering the building.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day,  the group We Live Indy hosted a panel discussion on how to prevent crime in Indianapolis.

We Live Indy, a nonprofit founded by Indianapolis high school students, works to prevent youth violence across the United States.

Brandon Warren with We Live Indy said his group wants to “keep hope alive, not only in our city, but within ourselves. Everybody has a responsibility with the violence in our city.”

During a panel discussion students talked about how to diffuse physical confrontation. They heard from victims of gun violence. They even watched a dramatization on when a parent is notify their child has died.

We Live Indy is planning future events, if you would like to learn more about the group just check out their webpage.
