Teens identified after fatal west side crash

Staff Reports - INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -- The Marion County Coroner's Office has identified two teens who died in a car crash on Sunday.

The teens have been identified as 17-year-old Alexandra Koffi and 13-year-old Aaron Koffi. Alexandra was a junior at Ben Davis High School and Aaron was a 7th grader at Lynhurst 7th & 8th Grade Center.

Crews from the Wayne Township Fire Department were called to the 8300 block of West Washington Street -- that's north of Indianapolis International Airport -- just after 3 p.m. on Sunday.

A third person suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The two teens were siblings and students at M.S.D. of Wayne Township.

Counselors are available at the school today to help grieving students.

Superintendent Jeff Butts released the following statement via Twitter on behalf of Wayne Township Schools:

Chief Communications Officer of MSD of Wayne Township Mary Lang released a statement:

It has been a very difficult day in our district, but the efforts of our school counselors and staff have helped students and staff begin to cope with this tragic loss. Counselors from Chapel Hill 7th & 8th Grade Center, the Ben Davis Ninth Grade Center, and Ben Davis University High School have been available to help provide additional support to the counseling staff as needed at Ben Davis High School and Lynhurst.

Additionally, we have utilized therapy dogs to help both students and staff begin the healing process. We are grateful to Paws & Think, Inc. and to the Wayne Township Fire Department for providing these dogs today for this purpose. They have been tremendously helpful.

Our hearts go out to the Koffi family in their grief.
