MARION, Ind. (WISH) - Police in Marion have made an arrest in connection to a murder Tuesday morning.
Officers have arrested James Rush, 25, following the shooting death of 23-year-old Bernardino Guerrero.
According to Marion Deputy Chief of Police David Day, police were called to a home at the 3700 block of South Houck Street just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. Police found Guerrero dead from a single gunshot wound.
Police learned a man broke into the house through the back door. Guerrero confronted the intruder and was shot. The intruder reportedly then ran back out the door he had broken into.
Rush has been preliminarily charged with murder, illegal possession of a firearm and burglary resulting in serious bodily injury.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Central Indiana through Friday night. Southern counties will be under a winter storm warning beginning Thursday night through Friday night.
