INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Arson is suspected in an apartment fire on the city's west side early Thursday morning.
Shortly after 3 a.m. residents of an apartment building in the 3200 block of North Clifton Street said they heard something hit the outside wall.
Next the residents said they saw flames racing up the side of their apartment building.
Eight residents safely escaped the six apartments and called 911.
IFD crews arrived to find smoke and fire coming from the wood frame apartment building.
Firefighters made an interior attack on the flames.
The fire was brought under within 35 minutes.
Damage has been estimated at $25,000.
IFD Victims Assistance and the Red Cross will arrange temporary housing for the displaced residents.
The displaced include 6 adults and two children.
No injuries were reported at the scene.

6:15 P.M. UPDATE: Indiana State Police dispatch says they have a dozen units working various slide offs on Interstate 65 - north and south - south of mile marker 100 and north of mile marker 80. They say the roads are covered with snow.
