FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WISH) - Jury deliberations in the David Bisard trial continued Tuesday morning.
The three week trial over Bisard's involvement in a fatal crash in Aug. 2010 ended with closing arguments Monday afternoon. Jurors then deliberated for four hours.
Judge John Surbeck discovered a male juror known as "Number 12" had done research into issues brought up during the trial outside of court. That activity directly disobeyed jury instructions given daily by the judge.
The judge decided the jury was not too tainted to continue.
Bisard faces criminal recklessness and drunken driving charges for crashing his squad car while on duty into a group of motorcyclists. A 30-year-old man was killed and two other people were seriously injured.
The case was moved to Allen County amid doubt the officer would receive a fair trial in Marion County after three years of extensive media coverage.
UPDATE 10 P.M.: Indy Snow Force says there were 90 drivers out salting the roads.
With some of the coldest nights of the season on the way, shelters are preparing for a rush of people trying to stay warm.
Christmas is just over two weeks away, but it came early for some very special kids in Hancock County.
