AMO, Ind. (WISH) - An 11-year-old boy accidentally shot his sister in the leg on Monday, officials with the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department said.
The incident happened at a home in the Amo area. The boy was holding a .22-caliber bolt action rifle when it fell to the floor and fired, striking the boy’s 14-year-old sister in the leg.
Other people in the room at the time, including the boy’s mother, said they didn’t know the gun was loaded.
The girl was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in good condition.
A winter weather advisory was issued for Wayne, Union, Switzerland, Ripley, Ohio, Franklin, Fayette and Dearborn counties on Saturday night.
IMPD officials say a 3-year-old boy has died after he was shot in the head Saturday evening.
Lawrence Police are investigating an overnight shooting in the 8800 block of Pendleton Pike. Police say the shooting happened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.
