CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - A Carmel teacher was off the job Friday along with a teaching assistant while administrators review an incident that happened in the classroom.
This week, Clay Middle School Principal Todd Crosby sent an email to parents that said "teaching techniques not proper for choral instruction have been used in the classroom."
Crosby said, pending their review of the situation, they have relieved the teacher and instructional assistant from further classroom duties.
School officials wouldn't elaborate, citing it as a personnel matter.
Carmel Police said they are not investigating because no crime was committed.
The full letter from the school to parents appears below.
As you know we have high expectations for academic performance at Carmel Clay Schools. Today, it has come to our attention that teaching techniques not proper for choral instruction have been used in the classroom. Pending our administrative review of the situation, we have relieved the teacher and instructional assistant from further classroom duties. Please know that your child will continue to receive high quality instruction during this review.
The choir concert scheduled for tomorrow night will continue to be held. Another staff member from our performing arts department will lead the performance.
It is our top priority to provide a safe and secure educational environment for your children.
Thank you for your continued support.

A winter storm warning is in effect for most of Central Indiana.
It's very rare that a single person can reach across national, racial, and spiritual borders to bring such hope and healing.
Dispatchers with Indiana State Police say a vehicle left the roadway Thursday night off of Interstate 69.
