INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Domestic Violence Network is working with Mayor Greg Ballard and other city leaders to tackle domestic violence in the city.
It's estimated that more than 10,000 Hoosiers in Marion County are victims of domestic violence each year.
According to Interim Director of Domestic Violence Network, Kelly McBride, the risk of death increases by 75 percent when the victim tries to leave an abusive relationship.
The group's plans will show victims how to get out, provide services and counseling for abusers. The final plan includes showing children what healthy relationships look like.
"The earlier we can get in front of kids to talk about healthy relationships, the better chance of ending domestic violence," said McBride.
