SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - One man died Friday afternoon after police officials said he drove his car over the center line and hit a garbage truck head-on.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ind. 9 and Mill Road in Shelby County, north of Shelbyville.
Shelby County Sheriff's Department officials said a 34-year-old man driving a blue 2001 Dodge Neon was southbound on Ind. 9 when he crossed the center line, hitting a city of Shelbyville garbage truck. The Neon's driver died in the crash. The garbage truck landed upside down, and the 60-year-old driver was taken to Major Hospital with minor injuries.
Ind. 9 was shut down while emergency crews cleaned up the crash.
The crash victim's name wasn't released, as police were still notifying family members.
