INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Wheeler Mission is known for providing for people in need. Now, the Wheeler Mission is in need.
Thieves stole two portable generators that were kept in a warehouse on the south side. The mission used them for the Drumstick Dash and other Wheeler events.
The cost of this theft equates to about 400 meals -- or cuts into the provision of other services to the homeless.
“We certainly could have helped them in other ways, if they just came to us for help,” said Steve Kerr, Chief Development Officer for Wheeler Mission. “If they needed food, if they needed assistance, we could've — loved to have helped them."
The replacement cost for the generators is about $900.
The organization said they’re happy to accept used generators or donations that would go toward replacing them.
