INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A team of Hoosiers will be competing in a unique competition in Chicago Saturday.
The Red Bull Flugtag event challenges teams to build homemade, human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of making them fly. The devices are judged not only on how wel they fly, but their creativity and performace as well.
At this year's event, the "Who's Yer Wiiings" from Indiana will be honoring their home state during the competition.
Pronounced "Hoosier Wings," the team's device is an IndyCar-style glider that highlights the Indy 500.
The event will also feature another Hoosier claim to fame. A replica of the "World's Largest Drum" from Purdue will also try to fly over the lake.
Purdue band members spent about 250 hours making their drum
The competition takes place Saturday over Lake Michigan.
