INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - IMPD was investigated a shooting early Saturday morning that left one man dead. Police say the suspect is still on the loose.
The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of Declaration Drive, near the intersection of E. Hannah Ave. and S Meridian St., on the city's South Side.
IMPD says officers arrived to find a man lying in the street, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The victim died at the scene. He was later identified at 49-year-old Mark Kelley of Indianapolis.
The Marion County Coroner will work to identify the victim.
One witness who asked not to be identified said she just moved into the area a few days ago.
She said she heard several gunshots, saw the victim and called 911.
“I panicked, my girls, they heard the gunshots, they got scared,” the witness said. “If I could, I would break the lease, but I guess there's just nowhere else to go.”
That witness said she saw two cars speed away after the shooting.
Police haven't released any information about the suspect or suspects yet.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (317)-262-TIPS.
