PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - An Indianapolis man has died after being pulled from a lake in Putnam County Sunday afternoon.
Indiana Conservation Officers say the incident occurred at the Lieber State Recreation Area at Cataract Lake around 3:30 p.m.
Witnesses reported a man was acting erratically, bobbing up and down in the water near the roped off area of the beach.
The man, identified as 37-year-old Rafael A. Lopez of Indianapolis, was brought to shore by bystanders, who then began performing CPR on him until medical personnel arrived.
He was taken by ambulance to the Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle where he died.
The cause of Lopez's death remains unknown at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday morning.
Interstate 70 east near Interstate 465 was reopened Tuesday evening after a crash blocked all lanes around 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Indianapolis Police Chief Rick Hite will promote 23 officers. Three sergeants will be elevated to the rank of lieutenant. Twenty patrol officers will be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
