INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The area around Bush Stadium — and the old stadium itself — is being transformed into a technology district.
City officials announced Thursday morning the transformation of the stadium into 136 loft apartments overlooking the old field, which will be turned into a park.
A chunk of the west side is being coined 16 Tech, as the goal is to transform it into a technology development comprising up to 1 million square feet.
Private developers will handle the stadium project, while the city will contribute $5.3 million, pending approval, for the overall development. The technology park area should stretch from 10th to 16th streets and from White River to Fall Creek Parkway.
Apartments should be complete by 2013, and the technology park will develop as interested parties step up to participate.
