INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Public Safety Director Troy Riggs has a new agenda. He wants the Department of Public Safety to get their Twitter handle out to get as many followers as possible.
Shortly after the Boston Bombings, Riggs added he received notification of the initial blast from his Twitter account.
"I was not notified through the media," said Riggs. "I was notified through a tweet."
Armed with that information, Riggs wants the DPS Twitter handle to dispense safety, warnings, and closure updates.

Currently the DPS Twitter handle has more than 2,000 followers. The department would like to increase its followers.
The department is hoping to increase more followers before the Indy 500. Those behind the department tweets will use the handle for major conventions, sporting events, and Circle City Classic.
"That would give me a reason to get on Twitter more," said Krista Vaught.
