INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana State Fair is less than two weeks away and thatmeans temporary jobs for hundreds of Hoosiers.
This year’s fair is 17 days long, that's five dayslonger than usual. Which includes five more days of the midway,five more days of exhibits and five more days of fair food.
For 800 seasonal workers hired by the fair the extended fairis good news.
"It means they'll get five more days of pay for sure. So Ithink a lot of people were excited about that and that's probablywhy we got so many people applying this year," said Andy Klotz,Indiana State Fair.
The economy probably played a role in more than 2,000 peopleapplying for the 800 jobs.
"Everybody was trying to get a job," said Freddy Hurns, astate fair employee.
The fair opens Friday August 7 and runs through Sunday August23. The extended fair is a three year experiment.
A winter weather advisory was issued for Wayne, Union, Switzerland, Ripley, Ohio, Franklin, Fayette and Dearborn counties on Saturday night.
