INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Officials will announce a plan to put more police officers on city streets on Monday.
According to a press release issued Sunday, Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Chief Rick Hite and Public Safety Director Troy Riggs will make the announcement at IMPD North District.
He said he wouldn't pay for the continuing expenses from new officers.
In announcing the veto, the Mayor's Office said the city "will release a plan to move 100 officers from desk jobs to the street in a responsible manner that will help reduce crime and does not add to our budget deficit."
5 P.M. UPDATE: The Johnson County Sheriff's Office says deputies were working multiple accidents, including slide-offs, property damages and personal injury crashes all over the county.
