INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating three recent scooter thefts.
Officials say one of the thefts occurred in the 5400 block of East 10th Street on Thursday.
The 50-year-old victim told police he was on a scooter when two vehicles forced him to stop at an intersection. A black man with dreadlocks got out of the car and struck the victim with a gun. The suspect then got on the scooter and fled the scene. That suspect vehicle is described as a black Monte Carlo.
A separate incident occurred in the 2300 block of Columbia Avenue.
The victim was stopped at a red light when a suspect got out of a dark silver Ford Taurus and and struck him in the head with a pistol. The suspect ordered the man to get off his scooter, according to a police report from IMPD. The suspect in this incident is also described as a black man with dreadlocks.
In a third incident that occurred in the 4000 block of Capitol Ave., a man was riding his scooter near his home when he noticed a small black vehicle trying to corner him. The victim refused to stop, so the suspect vehicle struck him, causing him to fall off the scooter and break his arm.
The passenger of the car got out of the vehicle, hopped on the scooter, and fled the scene.
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact IMPD.
