INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Three people were taken to the hospital Monday morning after a three-car accident on the city's east side.
The accident happened at 8:47 a.m. near 21st Street and North Shadeland Avenue.
Police on the scene say an IMPD officer stopped at the intersection witnessed the accident.
The officer says a pickup truck ran the light heading south on Shadeland Avenue and struck a Ford Explorer, then struck a Toyota Solara and hit the crosswalk utility pole knocking it over.
The truck's passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle. The passenger and driver were taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Toyota was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in good condition.
The accident caused a traffic backup at the intersection while the accident was cleaned up.
