INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - In just five days, explosives will bring down what's left of theRCA Dome.
On December 20, just after 9 a.m., crews will detonate nearly1,000 pounds of dynamite to reduce the Dome to rubble. Workers arealready taking steps to prepare the building for the implosion,including putting notches in the building to help weaken thestructure.
"Probably by the time it settles, by the time the concrete isdown, it'll take 21-26 seconds," said Tom Scheel, Shiel Sexton,Inc.
Several streets around the Dome will be closed Saturdaymorning starting around 8 a.m. until at least an hour or two afterthe implosion. There is no public viewing area being set up for theimplosion.
