INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Marion County Sheriff John Layton has been elected Treasurer of the National Sheriff's Association.
Layton has previously served as Sergeant at Arms. He was elected to this latest role at the association's national conference.
In a release, Stephen Luce, Executive Director of the Indiana Sheriff's Association commented on the election, saying it "is a great opportunity for Indiana Sheriffs and the citizens they represent to have their voices heard on a national level."
The Marion County Sheriff's Office was re-accredited by the American Correctional Association on June 13 and is also accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies – known in law enforcement and correctional communities and the "triple crown" of accreditation, according to a release.
