INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indy Pro Soccer is coming to the Circle City and Thursday, the team's name, colors and crest were revealed.
Officials with the league, the team and the city unveiled the news Thursday afternoon at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.
There was meaning behind the location.
"The Indy Eleven" will pay tribute to Indiana's 11th Regiment in the Civil War, which was founded on this day back in 1861.
Mayor Greg Ballard praised the decision.
"I think it really speaks to our character as Hoosiers and to Indianapolis," Ballard said. "And it makes it clear that where this team is coming from when you look at that logo and you look at the 11 that's with it and I just think it's very special and very meaningful. "
The team was just announced three months ago and already 3,000 season tickets have been sold.
Part of the Monon Trail will be closed Monday morning.
