INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis police detectives issued a woman a summons after she failed to produce a license for giving massages.
According to the police reports, the woman advertised Stone Swedish Massage for $150. When she failed to present a license an officer issued her a ticket.
Currently, Code Enforcement charges therapist $103 a year for a license. Businesses are charged $319 a year. Criminal background convictions such as prostitution can restrict someone’s application for a license.
“It angers us,” said Phil Klem with Muscle Release Therapies. “We put money in training to do therapy to help people.”
Klem is a licensed medical massage therapist. In the office he has his therapist license in plain view to anyone who walks in the building.
“It’s done because of creditability,” said Klem.
Klem doesn’t mind the visits. In fact he informs his clients on how to avoid making a mistake.
He adds if a therapist is giving their dimensions, such as bra sizes, you will want to leave or call the police.
