WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The big day finally arrived for some Purdue graduates Friday.
Purdue's 2013 Spring commencement ceremony for the Colleges of Science and Technology took place inside the Elliott Hall of Music.
Students threw on the old cap and gown and proudly walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.
Graduate Rebecca Kangas who plans to be a teacher says she's excited to graduate and experience the real world.
"It's amazing. I honestly, I can't even imagine that today is this day. It's been four years here and it just flew by. I'm just really excited that it's finally done with. I can stop paying to be here and actually get to do something real," says Kangas.
Friday's commencement was Mitch Daniels' first as Purdue President, our sister station WLFI reports.
Daniels told graduates while they may not remember his 13-minute commencement speech, he will always remember it for being his first.
