KOKOMO, Ind. (WISH) - A showdown between a SWAT team and a man ended peacefully Wednesday afternoon.
Ronald Johnson, 34, holed up in a residence for hours not responding to the police negotiations.
Earlier in the day, police were called to a residence to check out a sexual battery case involving Johnson at a nearby house, but were unable to find him.
24-Hour News 8 news partner The Kokomo Tribune reports authorities were flagged down around 11 a.m. and they saw Johnson run into a house in the 2500 block of North Buckeye Street.
The SWAT team was called in around 2 p.m. and tried talking Johnson out of the house. After failed repeated attempts, they used a non-lethal explosive known as a flash bang.
Moments later Johnson walked out and surrendered. He was arrested and preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness, two counts of intimidation, sexual battery and battery.
