WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette Police said a woman remains in a coma Saturday night, after she was hit by a car on the Purdue University Campus.
Police said it happened around 3 a.m. Saturday morning on Grant St. near the Purdue Memorial Union.
Police said 22-year-old Nicole Ruffolo was crossing the street when she was hit by a car, driven by 25-year-old Courtney Nichols of West Lafayette.
Police said Nichols continued driving even after hitting Ruffolo. They said she was detained a few minutes later.
Police said they believe alcohol is a factor.
According to police, Ruffolo is from Iowa and was in town visiting her friend, who is a student at Purdue.
