SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) - Although the case is still open, Shelbyville police believe a woman who went missing in 2010 is dead.
24-Hour News 8 news partner The Shelbyville News reports Rebecca Cassidy was last seen in the 500 block of Fourth Street near her home on April 10, 2010.
Shelbyville police say she may have died and only base their information off the fact that she had no plans to leave her family and job.
Witnesses who saw her that evening told police they saw her walking alone and say she was walking from her boyfriend’s home, which was just a few blocks from her home.
Police and cadaver dogs searched the neighborhood and local parks but did not find her.
Police say there has not been any activity in her bank accounts and she had a history of domestic violence with her boy friend, although the violence reported to police was almost two years before her disappearance.
Police say the smallest bit of information may help break the case and are asking anyone with information to call the department at 317-392-5108.
Part of the Monon Trail will be closed Monday morning.
An Avon woman died Sunday evening from injuries she suffered in a three-vehicle crash in Jasper County.
Freezing rain across much of central and northern Indiana coated roads with ice overnight, contributing to many crashes.
