BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - Officials in Central Indiana say there are reports of deceptive phone calls in several counties.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office says the callers are using the sheriff's name and department when calling locals.
The number on caller ID appears to be from the non-emergency line for the sheriff's office, officials say. Police say the caller tells whoever answers the phone to send $300 or they will be arrested by the FBI in 30 minutes.
Officials say if something sounds suspicious, you should hang up the phone immediately and call police.
