INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officers arrested a man they say took pictures up girls' skirts at a local Walmart.
According to an IMPD police report, the incident occurred Thursday at the Walmart in the 4500 block of Lafayette Road.
Police were called to the store on a report of a possible voyeurism case.
Officers spotted a man walking very quickly and acting suspicious. According to the report, the man stopped, pulled out his phone, and attempted to video or take a picture underneath an 11-year-old's skirt.
The man then stopped behind a 21-year-old woman and took pictures or video under her dress.
When the man attempted to leave the store, officers arrested him. He has been identified as 37-year-old Shawn Dean.
Investigators sent Dean to the Marion County Jail. He is currently facing four counts of voyeurism. 24-Hour News 8 talked to the 11-year-old victim's mother.
"Very bold, very bold," she said.
Kimberly Minor stood just feet away from Dean as he snapped the picture of her daughter. Minor did not see it, but a loss prevention investigator watching surveillance video brought it to Minor's attention. Once officers arrested Dean they took two cell phones from him.
Police are now trying to determine how many times Dean may have taken the perverted pictures. Online, 24-Hour News 8 found a number of website promoting pictures taken underneath women's skirts.
Minor feels better knowing officers confiscated Dean's phones before he could post any pictures of her daughter online.
"He could have instantly sent them pictures to the internet and shipped them off, it can easily be accessed by many people easily," said Minor.
