INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Butler University officials have provided more information about an incident where two officers were slightly injured Friday night.
Initial reports revealed an unidentified person assaulted two Butler University Police Officers Friday night.
The incident happened around 11:30 p.m. near the canal.
Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Public Safety at Butler University, Benjamin Hunter, says a minor who had been underage drinking fled from a State Excise officer.
Hunter says during the chase, an officer was slightly injured when the individual ran into the officer. The minor continued to ignore officers' commands, and jumped into the canal.
IMPD was called to assist and arrived with a K9 officer. The individual was located by officers and apprehended.
Police say he tested a .144 percent BAC.
A second officer was injured during the incident while attempting to stop the man from running.
